Description

The Triple Sugar Iron (TSI) test is a microbiological test named for its ability to test a microorganism's ability to ferment sugars and to produce hydrogen sulfide. It is often used to differentiate enteric bacteria including Salmonella and Shigella

Formula:

Enzymatic Digest of Casein 5g


Enzymatic Digest of Animal Tissue 5g


Sodium Thiosulfate 0.3g


Sucrose 10g


Sodium Chloride 5g


Ferric Ammonium Citrate 0.2g


Phenol Red 0.025


Agar 13.5g


Final pH: 7.3 ± 0.2 at 25°C
