Description
Sabouraud agar or Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA) is a type of agar growth medium containing peptones. It is used to cultivate dermatophytes and other types of fungi, and can also grow filamentous bacteria such as Nocardia. It has utility for research and clinical care. Chloramphenicol and/or tetracycline may be added as broad spectrum antimicrobials to inhibit the growth of a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria
Formula:
Enzymatic Digest of Casein 5g
Enzymatic Digest of Animal Tissue 5g
Dextrose 40g
Chloramphenicol 0.05g
Agar 15g
Final pH: 5.6 ± 0.2 at 25°C
