Food processors and associated laboratories can use the SIMUL-qPCR System as a quick and reliable method for detecting Salmonella in food and environmental samples. All SIMUL-qPCR System assays are designed to have the same instrument run time allowing simultaneous identification of all SIMUL-qPCR System assay targets in less than an hour. In addition, each assay utilizes the power of multiplexing several targets during the same run. The SIMUL-qPCR Salmonella with GFP Assay incorporates a real-time PCR approach to identifying Salmonella and brings an added layer of assurance with the addition of the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) positive control.

Fluorescence-based reporter systems are generally utilized for microbial analysis due to their easily measured and distinguished phenotypes. One of the most commonly used fluorescent reporters is the green fluorescent protein (GFP) as it is well-characterized and contains many convenient inherent properties, such as spontaneous fluorescence. Recently, GFP reporters have been added to quality control strains, which differentiates a control strain from actual food contaminants or naturally occurring microorganisms.

This test kit is for the detection of Salmonella, and the reported labeled strain is UVQC Salmonella which contains a Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) marker.

    • Concurrent detection of both the target bacteria and a reporter labeled QC (catalog number: SMRT-UVQCSAL-020) of the target bacteria: By detecting both the target bacteria and the QC strain, the assay can confirm the presence of the target bacteria while also detecting any potential issues with the assay, such as sample or reagent contamination. This ensures the results are accurate, reducing the risk of false positives.
    • Fast and accurate detection of harmful pathogens: Our assay is designed to detect Salmonella and accurately (as little as 12 hours when enriched in EREB; 18 hours in BPW), enabling the food industry to take immediate action in the event of a positive test result.
    • Easy to use: The assay is easy to use and can be performed by personnel with minimal training.
    • Cost-effective: The assay is cost-effective, as it eliminates the need for additional testing to confirm the results, reducing the overall cost of testing. This assay incorporates a single enrichment media can be used to test for E. coli O157:H7 and Salmonella.
